Reasons people chose Pre-K over TK

  • we were in the process of moving and weren’t yet ready to show proof of where we lived in the new district

  • we needed more care hours with two working parents and were overwhelmed with applying for after school care

  • we have a high energy kid who needs outdoor time in order to be regulated wanted to extend our time with kidtime as long as we could to make should he got that instead of cobbling together aftercare (especially if we didn’t get a spot) He is on the young end of the age bracket of his year and we wanted to keep him in a trusted program to get him school ready before starting public school

  • We felt he needed more time and attention than he might get from TK.

  • He really needs the physical energy burn that we know he gets at KidTime but we were unsure of what it would be like in TK.

  • He’s so well adjusted at KidTime and loves all his teachers and friends we didn’t want to disrupt that yet.

  • Finally, three hours of TK wasn’t really helpful from of childcare standpoint, we need wrap around care since we both work. We knew he’d be happiest somewhere where he could run and play and engage with other kids v being at home with us.

  • Her big sister got to experience the pre-k year, so it felt fair to replicate

  • She is very young for her grade, so concern that transitioning to elementary school may be to tougher for her than her peers

  • Smaller student:teacher ratio, and staff and an environment she is happy and familiar with

  • We had to trade off $ and another year of 2 dropoffs, but with the optimism we could continue to afford kid time, it was a fairly easy decision.

  • We made that decision for him based on needing wrap-around care, already having established caregiver relationships/routines with Kid Time,

  • more individualized attention from the teachers,

  • the more age-appropriate play-based curriculum.
